I'm missing something here. This site has dozens of antennas that will work the way you want.

I've mounted mine on a 15' mast and it stands outside my back door. Portable, etc.
I strongly suggest you call these people. Their phone support has served me well. Tell them what modem you have and they'll (honestly) tell you what you need to buy. You'll probably need an adapter and perhaps a coax extension. I did.
And, no. I don't work for them.
PS: I struggled with HughesNet for two years. Run, I repeat, RUN from them unless you can afford the corporate level service.

Assuming your usb stick has an external antenna jack like mine, I've had very good service with the trucker's antenna located here:

Are you sure? It can be hidden by a small round plug. Read your owner's manual or google it and see. If it really doesn't have an external antennal jack, then you MIGHT want to consider the bigger bucks required for an amplifier. Again available here, and amplifier's advantage is that it will improve ALL your cell phone's service in the house.
Downside: Bigger, more bucks. But still a HECK of a lot less bucks than HughesNet.
Good luck. This has been a problem for me since 1998!

Sir, that "stick" for the internet connection to your laptop IS cell phone service! Unless you've made magic or have signal pigeons flying out the back. An amplifier hooked to external antenna will provide every cellular device (phone, laptop) in your house with cell signal.
Now, in the worst possible case scenario, you'd have cell (phone) service from a gsm carrier (att or t-mobile) and your laptop data connection from cdma carrier (sprint, verizion, etc) or vice versa. In that case, you'd just have to buy a more expensive amplifier to cover both cdma and gsm data.
I understand this is complicated, but cell data is cell data. Doesn't matter if you're talking on "phone" or surfing on a laptop.

Here's an article I posted a couple of years ago: (almost self serving link follows)
http://www.farmbox.c...-range-extender
You might find something useful there, but seriously, these people (wpsantennas) have served me very will over the years.
